Rack

How it works

• It is a bar with teeth that slides along a rail between two stops. A gear on its teeth slides it, and pushing the bar turns the gear.
• A motor drives any rack at the same steady pace, whatever gears or belts sit between.
• The rail has some friction. It holds a light load, but a heavy load slides the bar.
• Its end caps push like walls, and it is not self-locking.

Tips

• A green line in build mode shows where a gear can mesh with the bar.
• A heavy load on a raised bar can drive it back down when the power goes off.
