The Steam Pipe as it looks in the game
Bonus chapter, Full Steam Ahead

Steam Pipe

Carries steam from a Steam Boiler. An open end blows a short, strong jet; the longer the pipe, the weaker it blows.

How it works

  • It carries steam from a Steam Boiler's outlet. Pipes join end to end, and an end joined to nothing is open.
  • An open end blows a short, strong jet of steam that pushes things like a gust of wind: light things fly and heavy things barely move. Fixed parts such as walls block it; loose things and water don't.
  • Steam takes a moment to travel, and every metre of pipe makes the jet a little weaker.
  • A pipe touches nothing, so it can run straight through walls and other parts, and it is drawn in front of them.
  • The jet puts out flames, and windmills, sail carts and hot-air balloons catch it like wind.

Tips

  • Keep lines short where you need a strong blast.
  • Point the open end straight at what you want to move: the jet is narrow.

Where you'll meet it

You first meet it in level 201, Let Off Steam, in the bonus chapter, Full Steam Ahead, which opens once all 200 levels are solved. Its steam parts join the sandbox then too.
